About the role
Wageningen University & Research (WUR) invites applications for a Lecturer in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) within the Information Technology Group, part of WUR’s internationally leading research and education community. The role combines teaching with collaboration on applied research, preparing students to design modern intelligent systems that address real-world challenges in food, agriculture, environment, health, and sustainability.
Your responsibilities
- Teach and coordinate courses in big data systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data engineering, and software systems.
- Guide students in developing both theoretical understanding and practical engineering skills for intelligent systems.
- Collaborate with colleagues on educational innovation and applied research activities within an interdisciplinary, international environment.
Requirements
Essential
- Excellent command of English (CEFR level C1).
- Strong communication skills and a passion for teaching data science and AI.
- Experience working in an international academic setting.
- Ability to support students in their learning and thesis trajectory.
Desirable
- Affinity with interdisciplinary and application-driven education.
What we offer
- A competitive gross salary between €3,546 and €5,538 per month (scale 10 CAO-NU) for a 38‑hour working week.

- Initially a one‑year contract, extendable based on good performance.
