About the role

The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) is seeking a dedicated agronomist to join the team at the Center for Livestock Experiments. This position focuses on daily animal care and research support in the university’s cattle barn. You will work closely with researchers, veterinarians, and farm staff to maintain high standards of animal welfare while facilitating experimental studies. The role offers a unique opportunity to combine practical husbandry with scientific inquiry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily care, feeding, and monitoring of cattle in the experimental barn.
  • Assist in the implementation of research protocols, including data collection and sample handling.
  • Ensure clean and safe facilities in accordance with animal welfare regulations.
  • Collaborate with project leaders to plan and coordinate experimental activities.
  • Document observations and report any health or behavioral changes.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Relevant education in agronomy, animal science, or a related field.
  • Practical experience with cattle handling and husbandry.
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good communication skills; proficiency in a Scandinavian language is an advantage.
  • Interest in applied research and willingness to learn new procedures.
