About the position

We are offering a fully funded PhD position in the field of innovative optical sensing for precision storage of fruit at KU Leuven.

Project Overview

This PhD research focuses on the development and application of innovative, non-destructive optical measurement techniques for the postharvest storage of pome fruit. The project aims to improve quality monitoring and storage management through advanced spectroscopy and data analysis.

Candidate Profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., bioscience engineering, physics, photonics, or a related discipline).
• Strong background in spectroscopy and optical sensing.
• Proficiency in data analysis and programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
• Interest in postharvest biology and fruit quality assessment.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
