The Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Science, Innovation and Society (LISIS) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher on a fixed-term contract to study the role of the third sector in supporting agricultural installation and the ecological transition of farming practices.

About the Role

The postdoctoral project investigates how third-sector actors support farm installation as part of the ecological transition of agricultural practices. It focuses on two dimensions: the organisation and structure of third-sector networks at the local administrative scale, and the role of key actors who provide intermediation between aspiring farm operators and the associative ecosystem.

The fieldwork will take place in the Pays de la Loire region. The research will benefit from a parallel survey on experimental infrastructures in the same area, which may help identify installation candidates. Partnerships with established institutional or associative structures such as Terre de Liens may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Build a panel of installation candidates or recently installed farm operators engaged in ecologising their practices.
• Conduct qualitative surveys through interviews and field visits with this panel.
• Produce a functional mapping of third-sector entities involved in installation support at the regional level.
• Depending on the candidate’s skills and interests, carry out quantitative analyses, including network analysis, based on this mapping.

Candidate Profile

Skills and Knowledge

• PhD in sociology, preferably specialising in economic sociology or science and technology studies.
• Good knowledge of agricultural worlds.
• Experience in qualitative interview surveys and ability to build and, optionally, quantitatively process databases.
• Strong ability and motivation to work in a team.
• The ability to open and manage a fieldwork site will be an important recruitment criterion.

Work Environment

The postdoc is part of PEPR Transform, within PC2, which studies actors and projects of the third sector supporting agri-food transitions. The researcher will join a large team of scholars, mainly sociologists and economists, and will be hosted at LISIS, a major French laboratory for the study of science and technology in society. LISIS provides a rich scientific ecosystem with numerous resources and competencies related to agricultural and food issues.

The work will be carried out in close collaboration with two other postdoctoral researchers recruited on distinct but complementary themes. Remuneration and Benefits

• Gross monthly salary from €3,131, depending on experience.
• 44 days of annual leave and RTT per year.
