About the position

The National Research Institute of Animal Production invites applications for a PhD position in animal husbandry and fisheries.

Formal Requirements

  • PhD in animal husbandry and fisheries.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Documented research record with at least 15 scientific publications in journals from the List of Scientific Journals and Peer-Reviewed Materials from International Conferences (Ministry of Science and Higher Education), including at least 6 publications from the Journal Citation Report database and a minimum of 5 publications as first author.
  • Completion of at least two reviews of scientific articles.
  • Total citations of scientific output (any recognized database) of at least 30.
  • Total impact factor of scientific publications of at least 6.
  • Submission of at least one application for research project funding from external sources.
  • Participation in at least five research projects funded from external sources, including at least one international project.
  • Participation in at least five scientific conferences, including at least two international ones.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical software, particularly the Statistica package.
  • Experience in preparing expert reports for the Ministry or other public administration bodies.
  • Documented expertise in poultry rearing, organization, technology, and economics of poultry production.
  • Practical knowledge of poultry hatching, including incubation principles, evaluation of hatching egg quality, hatching parameters, factors influencing hatchability results, and evaluation of day-old chick quality.
  • Practical knowledge of poultry welfare assessment, including behavioral, physiological, health, and production indicators for housing conditions, as well as national and EU animal welfare laws (housing, transport, slaughter, and use for scientific or educational purposes).
  • Experience in planning and conducting scientific experiments, including developing methodological protocols, organizing procedures, selecting experimental and control groups, collecting data, monitoring conditions, and documenting and performing preliminary analysis of results.
  • Documented ability to prepare scientific articles for publication.
  • Ability to operate laboratory and research equipment, including equipment for analysis of blood morphological and biochemical parameters and assessment of meat and egg quality.
  • Membership of international and national scientific societies.
  • Completion of a research or professional internship (at least 2 weeks) after a master’s degree.
