About the position

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, one of Germany’s leading comprehensive universities and a university of excellence, invites applications for a PhD position within the DFG-project “Forest Lands: Evaluating Forest Managers’ Decision-Making”. The project involves a systematic literature review on determinants of forest land value, analysis of transaction data using machine learning, and experimental analysis of purchase decisions for forest land.

Your Responsibilities

  • Scientific service in research within the project
  • Preparation and analysis of transaction data on forest land purchases
  • Development of questionnaires and experimental designs
  • Data analysis and evaluation, as well as publication of results in scientific journals
  • Presentation of research results at international conferences
  • Tasks for personal scientific qualification (doctorate)

Your Profile

  • Completed scientific university education in agricultural economics, forestry economics, econometrics, statistics, or economics, or comparable disciplines, preferably with very good grades
  • Knowledge in experimental economics and the application of innovative statistical/econometric methods
  • Written and spoken English and German at least at C1 level
  • High degree of independence, commitment, flexibility, resilience, and ability to work in a team
