About the position
We are seeking a motivated PhD candidate to join the University of Leuven in developing novel sensor technology for online milk quality and cow health and welfare monitoring, with applications in IoT-enabled agriculture.
Project Overview
This research focuses on designing and implementing advanced sensor systems that enable real-time, non-invasive monitoring of milk composition and cow well-being. The work aims to integrate these sensors into IoT frameworks for smart farming, improving efficiency and animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype novel sensor technologies for milk quality and health monitoring.
- Conduct experimental validation in laboratory and field settings.
- Develop data processing algorithms and IoT integration solutions.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and industry partners.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in engineering, physics, bioscience engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in sensor technology, electronics, or instrumentation.
- Experience with data analysis and programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
- Interest in agricultural applications and IoT systems.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).
