About the role
The Professorship for “Governance in International Agribusiness” at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), jointly affiliated with the TUM School of Management and the TUM School of Life Sciences, invites applications for a Ph.D. position in Agricultural Economics. The position is based on the Freising-Weihenstephan Campus, with a planned start in September 2026. The appointment is initially for two years, with the possibility of extension. The salary follows the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L E13) at 75% of full-time equivalent.
The professorship’s research and teaching aim to shape and contribute to fostering a transition toward a more sustainable, fairer, healthier, and efficient agro-food system.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research in agricultural economics, with a focus on topics such as crops, climate-resilient farming, adoption behavior, and geospatial analysis.
- Publish high-quality articles in peer-reviewed international journals.
- Contribute to the teaching activities of the professorship and supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s student theses.
- Actively participate in the preparation and acquisition of third-party funding (e.g., EU Horizon, BMBF).
Qualifications
- An excellent Master’s-level degree in economics, agricultural economics, or agricultural sciences.
- Fluency in written and spoken German.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Documented interest in crops, climate-resilient farming, adoption behavior, and geospatial analysis.
- Strong motivation to publish in leading international peer-reviewed journals.
- Personal initiative, commitment, and ability to work excellently as a team player.
