About the role

Aarhus University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position focused on gaseous emissions from fertilizers. The successful candidate will join a research group dedicated to understanding and mitigating emissions of reactive nitrogen and greenhouse gases from agricultural systems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in soil science, biogeochemistry, and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct laboratory and field experiments to measure gaseous emissions (e.g., ammonia, N2O, CO2) from various fertilizer types and application methods.
  • Analyze data using statistical and process-based models to quantify emission factors and identify mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at international conferences.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across departments and with external partners in the agricultural sector.
  • Supervise MSc and PhD students as part of project work.
  • Contribute to grant writing and reporting for ongoing research projects.

Requirements

  • A PhD degree in environmental science, soil science, biogeochemistry, agricultural engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Documented experience with measurement techniques for gaseous emissions (e.g., static chambers, eddy covariance, or micrometeorological methods).
  • Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency in statistical software (R, Python, or MATLAB).
  • A proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
