About the role

DTU is looking for a Project Buyer to join its central procurement function, Koncernindkøb. The role offers a unique opportunity to work close to research and innovation while handling complex purchases that support world-class research, education, and development. Workplace and team

Koncernindkøb is DTU’s central procurement unit, staffed by 36 colleagues and responsible for the full procure-to-delivery process. The department supports institutes, centres, and departments across Denmark and is based at Lyngby Campus. It manages all major purchases, negotiates framework agreements, and conducts institute-level procurement analyses to ensure high quality and compliance with applicable rules. Sustainability is an integral part of the procurement work.

Operational procurement

As Project Buyer, you will join a specialist team of six project buyers responsible for all acquisitions above EUR 100,000 and for daily contact with DTU’s institutes, centres, and departments. The role combines independent work with close collaboration with colleagues and users. Purchases include both everyday university needs and complex research equipment such as ships, satellites, test equipment, special materials, machinery, and laboratory instruments.

Key responsibilities

• Managing procurement of goods and services not covered by framework agreements
• Conducting market analyses and obtaining quotations
• Negotiating prices, terms, and contracts, including e-auctions
• Ensuring documentation requirements are fulfilled
• Balancing price, quality, risk, and user needs to deliver optimal solutions

Required qualifications and profile

We expect you to have a commercial education and several years of relevant experience, for example from a procurement function in a larger public or private organisation. You should also:

• Be able to challenge users and suppliers at a high professional level
• Work in a structured, analytical way and turn complex issues into clear decision-making materials
• Master the art of negotiating optimal prices and terms, even with a single supplier
• Thrive in a role with a broad contact surface and build strong relationships professionally and solution-oriented
• Be able to deliver financial and quality results with satisfied end users
• Speak and write fluent Danish and English
• Have knowledge or experience with public procurement – an advantage, but not a requirement

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and terms of employment are based on the OAO-S collective agreement (HK/Stat) or the collective agreement for academics in the state. Supplements may be negotiated in accordance with DTU’s salary structure. The workplace is Lyngby Campus.
