Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin/Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, w/m/d) – Department “Forest Technology, Business Administration and Wood” (Forsttechnik, Betriebswirtschaft, Holz), Bavarian State Institute of Forestry and Forest Research (LWF), Freising, Germany.
About the position
The Bavarian State Institute of Forestry and Forest Research (Bayerische Landesanstalt für Wald und Forstwirtschaft, LWF) is offering a position as Research Associate in the Department “Forest Technology, Business Administration and Wood”. The post is attached to the long-term project “Establishment trials with fast-growing tree species in short-rotation coppice” (Anbauversuche mit schnellwachsenden Baumarten im Kurzumtrieb), which investigates the growth, harvesting technology and ecological effects of fast-growing tree species cultivated on agricultural land as short-rotation plantations.
Within this project framework, the successful candidate will prepare a business-economic analysis of short-rotation forestry operations.

Responsibilities
- Pre-processing and analysis of data already collected within the project
- Conducting supplementary, orienting time studies
- Preparing a business-economic analysis of short-rotation forestry, including a sensitivity analysis
- Contributing to the final project report
- Participating in the preparation of a scientific publication
Requirements
Essential qualifications
- Completed university degree (M.Sc. or Diplom (Univ.)) in forest science or a related field of study
- Good to very good knowledge of standard MS Office applications
- Very good written command of German
- Willingness to undertake business trips using a company car
- Ability to work in a team
Desirable qualifications
- Experience in business-economic analyses and in the evaluation of time studies
- Knowledge of short-rotation plantations (KUP) and of agricultural and forestry technology
- Experience in scientific work, data analysis and the writing of research reports
- Knowledge of the statistical software R
Conditions and general information
The position is generally suitable for part-time employment, provided that the full scope of duties is ensured through job sharing.
