Description
Original title: Assistant-e ingénieur-e biologiste en traitement de données (H/F)
About the role
The CNRS is recruiting an assistant engineer in biological data processing (H/F) for a six-month fixed-term contract within the Evolution, Ecology and Palaeontology (EEP) unit. The position is full-time, based at Villeneuve d’Ascq (59655), France, with an expected start date of 1 September 2026.
The successful candidate will work on population genomics data production and the development of statistical inference approaches. The post corresponds to the job family “Biologist engineer in data analysis” and is set in the field of life, earth, and environmental sciences. It is open to applicants with a disability certificate recognising them as disabled workers.
Responsibilities
- Produce population genomics data for several pairs of bryophyte species.
- Develop an inferential framework to estimate introgression rates between species.
- Apply population genetics, statistical inference, and coalescence theory in genomic analyses.
- Use bioinformatics tools and programming languages such as R, Python, and bash.
- Run analyses on high-performance computing environments, for example using Slurm.
Requirements
- A BAC+3 degree or equivalent, plus solid experience in evolutionary biology.
- Strong motivation and good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of collaborative projects.
- Relevant experience in population genetics, bioinformatics, and statistical inference.
Work environment
The EEP laboratory at the University of Lille carries out fundamental research on the origin and evolution of biodiversity, integrating genomics, ecology, and palaeontology. Plants are the laboratory’s historical model organism.
