You will contribute to the external visibility of WFBR in circular and biobased materials through publications and societal debate, while acting as a sparring partner for colleagues. The position combines approximately two-thirds research with one-third project leadership and business development.
Key responsibilities
- Further develop the Sustainable Plastics research domain within WFBR
- Initiate, acquire, execute, and manage complex applied scientific research projects
- Contribute to external visibility via trade journal publications and participation in societal debates
- Act as a source of expertise and sparring partner for colleagues
- Actively contribute to joint research and innovation development
Requirements
- Experience in initiating, acquiring, executing, and managing complex applied scientific research projects
- Demonstrated leadership, credibility, and persuasiveness
- Commitment to quality and enjoyment of collaborative teamwork
- Ambition to become a leading scientist in circular and biobased plastics technology
- English language proficiency at CEFR level C2; willingness to learn Dutch if not already a speaker (support provided)
What we offer
- Competitive gross salary between €4,929 and €7,068 per month (scale 12, CLA Wageningen Research) for a 36-hour workweek; a 32-hour contract is negotiable
- Excellent pension scheme, holiday allowance of 8%, and a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.33%
- One-year contract with possibility of extension upon good performance and organisational circumstances
- Support for international relocation: visa application assistance, a dual-career program for partners, and practical help with housing, banking, and schooling
- Possible tax exemption on part of salary for the first five years for eligible international staff
- An inclusive, diverse work environment where everyone feels safe and valued
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the official Wageningen University & Research vacancy page; only applications received through that channel will be considered. The deadline for external candidates is 3 August 2026. Internal candidates are encouraged to apply by 28 June 2026.
